That's why medications that lower testosterone levels (for example, leuprolide) are common treatments for men with prostate cancer. Online testosterone therapy (TRT) is an effective treatment for men diagnosed with low testosterone levels, offering numerous benefits related to physical, emotional, and psychological health. While the evidence does not conclusively link testosterone therapy with an increased risk of cancer, a cautious approach, emphasizing the importance of screening and preventive measures, is warranted. This section delves into the current understanding of how testosterone therapy may influence the risk of developing cancer, focusing on prostate cancer, other potential cancer risks, and the importance of screening and prevention.
When you think of testosterone, what comes to mind? Fenugreek may also reduce cholesterol levels, lower inflammation, and help with appetite control, but more research is needed in these areas. It’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional before starting a new supplement. Moreover, some people report a strange and slightly sweet body odor when supplementing, but this is unconfirmed. However, as with most supplements, less serious side effects like diarrhea and indigestion have been reported anecdotally.
The relationship between testosterone therapy (TRT) and cancer risk, particularly prostate and breast cancer, has been a topic of considerable debate and investigation within the medical community. Several studies have investigated the potential link between testosterone therapy and an increased risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes. The supportive argument posits that by treating men with TRT, thereby increasing PSA levels and administering T to a steroid responsive cancer, a man’s risk of development of prostate cancer is significantly increased. It has been demonstrated in several trials that TRT increases serum PSA levels in some men, while androgen deprivation therapy can be used in the successful treatment of prostate cancer. While TRT for treatment of TD may cause elevations in serum PSA in some men within safe parameters (as outlined in the Endocrine Society Guidelines), it has not been definitively shown to lead to a significantly increased risk of prostate cancer Bhasin et al. 2010.

TRT suppresses the body’s natural testosterone and sperm production. The most frequently reported side effects include acne, fluid retention, mood changes, elevated hematocrit (red blood cell count), testicular atrophy, and sleep disturbances. A thorough medical evaluation, including comprehensive lab work and health history review, is essential before starting TRT.
Since 2008, there has only been one study that addressed elevated hemoglobin and hematocrit in patients receiving TRT. A meta-analysis of adverse effects of TRT in men with TD found 11 trials that highlighted erythrocytosis as a prominent side effect of TRT. Serum T in the OSA group was significantly lower compared with controls, and a statistically significant inverse correlation was found between serum T level and depressive symptoms Bercea et al. 2013. This study adds to the mounting evidence that suggests TRT may in fact improve LUTS; however, this study is limited in that men with severe LUTS by IPSS and evidence of obstruction were excluded. There was no difference in IPSS scores when adjusted for weight loss during the study period or concomitant use of vardenafil. A recent prospective longitudinal observational registry of 259 men investigated the effects of TRT on LUTS in men with TD Yassin et al. 2014.
Although more research is needed, initial results postulate that fenugreek has several other health benefits. The high fiber content of fenugreek powder or seeds could also support blood sugar management, even in people without diabetes. They also had a measurable increase in testosterone concentration. The group that took 600 mg had a decrease in body mass and body fat but an increase in lean mass.
